Making Courage Intentional in Public Health Leadership

Courage doesn’t mean fearlessness. It means choosing to act despite the presence of fear—guided by values rather than the fear itself.

Courageous Public Health, LLC, exists to strengthen courageous leadership among women in public health—especially in moments of uncertainty, systemic strain, and constraint.

Founded by Dr. Kristi McClamroch, Courageous Public Health helps leaders and organizations recognize, name, and intentionally use courage as a leadership skill—not a personality trait.

Courage is already happening in public health.

Our work makes it visible, supported, and scalable.

Courageous Consulting and Workshops

Public health is being asked to do more with less—while navigating political pressure, moral injury, and constant change. In this context, courage is not a luxury. It is a leadership capacity.

Courageous Public Health partners with public health, healthcare, nonprofit, government, and philanthropic organizations through facilitated, interactive virtual workshops grounded in real public health experience. This work supports women to lead with clarity, integrity, and purpose in complex and imperfect systems.

Organizations come to this work when fear-based decision-making is no longer sustainable—and when they’re ready to support leaders, not just demand more from them.

This work is not about fixing people.

It is about strengthening capacity—individually and collectively—so leaders can act with intention rather than fear and constraint.

The Courageous Public Health Podcast

The Courageous Public Health Podcast is a space for bold, honest conversations at the intersection of courage, leadership, and equity in public health.

Hosted by Dr. Kristi McClamroch, the podcast centers the voices of women doing the work of public health—women navigating risk, responsibility, and resistance while building something better.

Across dozens of conversations, one truth has emerged clearly:

*Women in public health are courageous long before they ever call themselves courageous.*

The podcast is part archive, part mirror, and part movement—helping listeners recognize their own courage and imagine what’s possible when it’s used intentionally.
